One of my favorite things about summer is the abundance of fresh fruit in the markets. Spring has its bounty, but I just love the stone fruits of summer…apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, and plums. Cherries are at the top of the list and we’ve been eating Rainier cherries, Bing cherries and nameless sweet red cherries every week for the past couple months…and still haven’t gotten tired of it.
Cherry season is almost ending, so don’t miss out! We just went to Costco yesterday and bought 3 pounds of gorgeous deep red cherries for $4.99…a great deal at $1.66/pound. We were going to buy more blueberries too, but the crowds beat us too it. All that was left was a handful of containers with smushed blueberries.
White peaches and white nectarines are also favorites around here:
A little fruit salad of white nectarines, white peaches, apples, and though you can’t see it, chopped mango, all tossed in a bit of fresh lemon juice and topped with mint from the garden…delicious!
