Hubs turns the big 3-0 this weekend, which is pretty significant, in my opinion. Turning 30 means leaving your 20’s behind and all it represents–road trips, college days, first job, first apartment, traveling the world at the drop of the hat, because, hey, you don’t have kids, a family or a mortgage. To me, turning 30 means saying goodbye to all that and saying hello to responsibility, the beginnings of a receding hairline, a mortgage, 2.5 kids, a dog, and a 9-5 job. Which is why when I turn 30, I’ll probably freak out and have some sort of breakdown. Hubs doesn’t think much of his birthday, but his mother doesn’t want to think about how old he’s turning, because that will just remind her of how old she is.
Luckily, I was able to get the weekend off work–a miracle, considering I was scheduled to work pretty much every weekend in July and half of the ones in August. The only problem is I have no idea what to do for Hub’s birthday on Saturday. I had wanted to cook something special and bake a cake, but it seems he wants to just go out to eat with his family at a Chinese restaurant and wants cake from a Chinese bakery. I don’t know–despite him downplaying his 30th, I still feel pressured to do something special for such a significant birthday.
???
I’ll think of something…
